  Serving 2 masters at once...

  jesus said, you can't serve 2 masters at once.

  so, with that in mind, is it possible to be a jw, go to the meetings and field service, and still come here on jwd and feel at ease posting and criticizing the watchtower on certain issues.

  I'm with diamondblue on this one ... serving the WTBS and Jehovah at the same time is slaving for two masters. I mean, for Christ's sake, these people demand that you be willing to sacrifice your life and those of your loved ones for them. That is INSANITY! You must be willing to lie, denounce your 'worldly' relatives, even renounce your children if they don't agree with these bozos and their flip-flop predictions and rules and regulations. Can't choose your own friends or even your mate because of them. I've said it before and I'll say it again ... that is the very reason I left the dubs, I realized that I was not serving God I was serving an organization. No man is deserving of my devotion in that manner. Unless of course he's paying all my bills ... any takers?

  Great job Cheeseman. Stay on them. If they have the nerve to come to your door trying to convert you that gives you every right to put the real truth right in their face. I can't believe that all dubs are as stupid as I was back then. Some on this forum like rebel8 were independent thinkers. I think you will convert someone to apostasy yet . Most of them are just going door2door cause they have to. Give them something to think about on their way out of the 'territory'.

  question-- if a jw is disfellowshipped for having too much association with a non-witness- is this jw likely to be refused a reinstatement as long as he is associating with her-- and if so- will he be allowed to talk to her again to some degree after he is reinstated?

  That's a real shame sb. The bottom line is, that elders can do whatever they please. It is sickening that people want to have this much control over other peoples lives ... and in the name of God no less. It's just so sad to me. I really don't think this religion is going to hang on much longer. People have to begine to see that the 'truth' is nothing but a cult and a lie.

  a while back i posted my experience about running into an old jw friend who revealed to me he had left the "borg" and told me all about why he had.

  today he e-mailed me something he had written and i want to share it for the sake of those who are going thru something similar.

  i think it helps to know that we're not alone in our turmoil.

  my husband (non-jw) just called me from work, seems 2 people walked into his workplace, walks up to him and says, "can you put these in your coffee room?

  " at the same time shoving 2 mags upside down into his hand.

  he was busy, says, "sure" (thinking nothing of it).

  when the jws come to your door act all interested and take the mags and then looked surprised and say "oh wait..i don't accept cult material, thanks anway".

  Trin ... I'll have to use that one. You ARE a crack-up! LMAO

  Imagine the look on their faces. Maybe they'll make me a 'do not call' after that, since they haven't figured out an apsota's in the neighborhood yet.

  Is it just me or the dubs look pitiful going from house to house now? Funny, I hadn't noticed how slow they walk until now. One step, (20 seconds) step two (20 seconds) you get a lot more time in that way.

  20 years ago..a talk concerning field service..sisters crying..eyes opened

  well i can't recall now which public talks it was - one of my first - and it dealt with field service / preaching.

  so i thought i would interview several people in the congregation about service and their thoughts and feelings on the subject, expecting something very different than what i got.

  to my shock (i was an over zealous young buck who thought the sun rose and set on the wt) three sisters burst into tears as they told about their feelings of inadequacy and guilt over field service.

  love11 - how do you do that?

  I put a ring of incense around my kids, they think it's cool too.

  I burn incense almost every day. I found a cool store in a local mall run by a man from the mid-east (don't know where from yet, India seems likely). He's so very friendly.

  Now to the topic I used to love field service when I first started out, and for perhaps 7 or 8 years after. But that's probably because I liked the social aspects of it. I loved talking with the sisters in the car groups, that is until I seemed to get on the 'outs' of the inner circle. I find people fascinating and love hearing differing opions and such. I was very good at the doors though, always able to make placements and get people to agree to an RV. People told me that I wasn't pushy like most witlesses they knew . I was very charming.

  Once it became a drag to me I didn't know WTF to do but tredge on. Why don't they just people do what the hell they want to do? As much as I love the forum, sometimes I hate it when these old emotions come up. Has anyone done a thread on witnessing on the holidays? I HATED THAT!!!!!

  It's so sad to hear of the pain and devastation inflicted on individuals by this destructive and deceitful cult group. We are all in the throws of healing - it's impossible for those who've not gone thru it to understand how difficult a process this is, and how long the affects of being a witness linger in the hearts and minds of former members. MM, Let your friend know that we are here to help - as we have received help by sharing our experiences.

  Apostates and dubs in the same restaurant!!!!

  a small group of us who grew up together try and get together every few months.

  we went to this mexican restaurant and there was a group of witnesses there.. the tension was so thick.

  one of the guys there saw 2 elders who served on his jc.
